Mary Katherine McCarthy, age 79, of Cincinnati, OH, died Wednesday April 26, 2017 at the Letcher Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation in Whitesburg, KY. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Nannie Brown Carroll, born to them on March 20, 1938 in Knox County, KY.

She was united in marriage to Charles McCarthy who preceded her in death.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her one brother: Donald Carroll and her sister: Patty Carroll.

Survivors include her three children: Patricia Ann Beard and husband Bill of Cincinnati, OH, Michael McCarthy and wife Terri of Cincinnati, OH. and Mary Catherine Vergona and husband Patrick of Fairfax Station, Virginia, her three brothers: Clifford Carroll and wife Doraine of Indianapolis, Indiana, Johnny Carroll and wife Tonnie of Putney, KY and Douglas Carroll of Monticello, KY. by her three sisters Dorothy Perkins and husband Steve of Noblesville, Indiana, Ann Freeman and husband Douglas of Wilmore, KY and Nyoka Hall and husband Darrell of Whitesburg, KY. her Six Grandchildren: Stacey, Brian, Rachel, Michaela, Patrick and Isabella her three Great Grandchildren: Colin, Connor and Maxwell and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral services for Mary Katherine McCarthy will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Hopper Funeral Home after 11:00 A.M. Monday until the hour of service at 1:00 P.M.
