Obituary

Mattie Epperson Dunn age 90, of Barbourville, was born on January 18, 1923 at Mills Creek in Knox County, Kentucky. Mattie was a daughter of the late Daniel Epperson and Mary Davis Epperson. Mattie died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at home of her Son, Larry David Dunn, Barbourville. She was a member of the Mountain Missionary Baptist Church. In the year of 1939, she united in marriage to Commie Dore Dunn and to this union eight children were born. Along with her parents and husband, Commie, she was preceded in death by; two sons; Billy Jack Dunn and Roger Dale Dunn. Great granddaughter, Ambria Dunn; great grandson, Jeffery Allen "Duce" Dunn and her brothers; Albert, William, Bradley and C.O. Epperson all preceded her in death.

Mattie is survived by her loving children; Rev. Alvin Dunn and wife, Bonnie of Cannon; Commie Dore Dunn Jr. and wife, Mary of Jacksonville, Florida; Larry David Dunn and wife, Pat of Artemus; Loretta Phipps Mills of Barbourville; Mary Axie Hammond and husband, Lincoln of Saint Augustine, Florida; Kathy Baker and husband, Keith of Gray; her thirty-one grandchildren; fifty five plus, great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren; her sisters; Oda Walton of the Artemus Road, Barbourville; and Amanda Mills of Batavia, Ohio.

Funeral Services for Mattie Epperson Dunn will be conducted Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Arnold Petrey and Rev. Dewayne Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick with Grandsons and Great Grandsons, Rev. Dale Phipps, Rev. Tim Phipps, Rev. Scott Dunn, Rev. Jeffrey Dunn, Roger Dunn, Joe Baker, Derrick Dunn and Jacob Dunn serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be other dear and loving grandchildren and great grandchildren. Friends will be recieved at the Hopper Funeral Home Tuesday after 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
