McCoy Peavley, age 92, of Flat Lick, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was a son of the late James and Violet Mays Peavlia, born to them on May 3, 1924 at Flat Lick, Kentucky.
McCoy retired from the Ford Motor Company, and the L & N Railroad Company; a Member, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher at Hamilton Chapel Baptist Church at Flat Lick; and also belonged to God's Church; attended Churches in Knox County, Clay County, Bell County, Laurel County and Whitley County; a Kentucky Colonel; a Faithful Member of the Tri-County Masonic Lodge #174 F.& A.M. of Barbourville, having served as Junior Deacon; and a Member of the Eastern Star; and the Royal Arch 8 Degrees.
On October 18, 1952, he united in marriage to Hiawatha Jones, and to this union two sons: Derrick and Derand were born.
He was preceded in death by his by his father and mother: James and Violet Mays Peavlia; his brother: James Marvin Peavley; and by his sister-in-law: Bobbie Peavley.
He is survived by his loving family: His wife of over 64 years: Hiawatha Jones Peavey. His two sons: Derrick B. Peavley and Ennis Derand Peavley all of Inkster, Michigan.
His grandchildren: Danelle, Desiria, and Derand Jr.
His great grandchildren: Skylar, Jackson, Briana, Mariah, Kiana, and Layla; and many other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for McCoy Peavley will be 12:00 NOON Saturday, January 7, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Sowders, Rev. Leslie Broughton and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating.
Burial will follow in the Green Hills Memorial Park in Middlesboro,
Kentucky. Those serving as Pallbearers will Friends.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: all Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Pineville Community Hospital; all Knox County Churches; and all Employees of the Commercial Bank of Barbourville.
The Peavley family will receive friends after 6:00 P.M. on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Hopper Funeral Home, and after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday until the hour of service.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
