Murlene Lundy's Obituary
Murlene Lundy, age 74, of Bimble, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the home of her son in London.
She was a daughter of the late Isaac and Agnes Lanier Collins, born to them on September 13, 1939 at Kissimmee, Florida.
Murlene with her husband Wendell owned and operated the Traveler's Inn in Barbourville for many years; a well known Knox County Homemaker; she attended the Heidrick Holiness Church; and she also attended Union College.
On September 24, 1960, she united in marriage to Wendell Lundy and to this union three children: Douglas, Wendy and Frances were born.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother: Isaac and Agnes Lanier Collins; her two daughters: Frances Marlene Lundy and Wendy R. Honeycutt; and by a brother: Tommy Collins.
She is survived by her loving family: her loving husband of over 53
years: Wendell Lundy of Bimble. Her son: Douglas H. Lundy and wife, Susan of London.
Her four grandchildren: Sarah Fugate and husband, Wes; Neidra Lundy, Travis Lundy and Jared Lundy.
Her two great grandchildren: Liam Lundy and Elise Fugate.
Her two brothers: Donald Collins and Freddy Collins both of Florida.
Her two sisters: Virginia McDowell of Missouri; and Betty Lou Bryant of Florida; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services for Murlene Lundy will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Frazier and Rev. Eli Broughton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Tuggle Cemetery at Heidrick.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Michael Wheeler, Chris "Woody" Smallwood, Wes Fugate, Tyler Marcum, Shane Gray and Larry Gray.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: Randall Tuggle, Bea Abner, Randall Lundy, Lowell Lundy, Jim Coffey, Bob Koehler, Jimmy Hinkle, Ernie Joe Valentine and Terry Doolin.
In Lieu of flowers: Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 1020 Cumberland Falls Road, Corbin, KY 40701 or to the Church of your choice in loving memory of Murlene Lundy.
The Lundy family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, and on Friday after 11:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
