Opal Campbell Peterson age 90, of
Belleville,Michigan died peacefully at her home in the presence of her loving family Thursday, June 13, 2013.Opal was a daughter of the late Stephen A. Campbell and Essie Miracle Campbell
born to them on May 9, 1923 at Trosper, Kentucky. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Romulus, Michigan, where she faithfully served for many years. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by several beloved family members, a son, Steven L. Peterson, a sister, Thelma and a brother Billy.
During her lifetime she spent over forty years as a dedicated elementary school teacher and as well worked as a "Rosie the riveter", during World War II.
Opal is survived by her daughter, Thelma Charlotte Morgan and husband, James of Cement City, Michigan; her grandchildren; James Morgan, Rebecca Erickson and husband, Steve; Andrew Morgan and wife, Beth and Steve Morgan; her great grandchildren; Saralyn Erickson, Lucas Erickson, Andrew, Noah and Levi Morgan; and her dear brother; Rev. Glenn Campbell of Gray, Kentucky and his dear family.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Peterson will be conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Alex Idle officiating. Burial will follow at the Cumberland Memorial Gardens at Lily, Kentucky, with grandsons, grandsons-in-law, a great nephew and son-in-law serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Monday 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
