Paul Begley, age 85, of Gray, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Baptist Health in Corbin.
He was a son of the late Julius and Esther Callihan Begley, born to them on August 26, 1929 in Dry Hill, Kentucky.
Paul served in the U. S. Navy on the USS Hollister DD-780 during the Korean War. He was stationed in the Philippines where he was a diver and part of the team that cleared the Manila Harbor. He was a member of Oleika Shriners, Lexington, KY, a Master Mason of Cumberland Valley Lodge #751 F. & A. M., a member of the Order of Easter Star, Gray Chapter # 580, a member of the VFW, London, KY, and a member of the First Pentecostal Church of Corbin, KY.
Paul and Ruby were married on June 26, 1990.
Mr. Begley was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Esther Callihan Begley, three brothers, Michael Lynn "Pink" Begley, Arnold Begley, and James "Jim" Begley, and by four sisters, Coteal Lee, Lorene Gordon, Barbara Guyton, and Bernadyne Rodgers, and by a grandson, Geoff Cuzick.
Survivors include Paul's loving wife, Ruby Johnson Begley,
Two brothers, Dave Begley, and wife Linda of Payne, OH, and Bruce "Butch" Begley, and wife Janet of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Mildred "Mick" Shoenauer and husband, Gene, and Dianne Farling, both of Payne, OH.
Two sons, Dennis P. Begley and wife, Kazuko Shiba of St. Louis Park, MN, and Gary O. Begley and wife, Peggy of Scottsdale, AZ; three daughters, Brandi Bevins and husband, Alvin of Cana, VA, Christina "Tena" Allen of Gray, KY, and Barbara J. Garland and husband, Jerry of Jenks, OK., 13 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great grandchild to arrive this November.
Paul leaves behind four special cousins whom he was very close to, Everett Begley, Norman Begley, Kelly Rice of Hyden, KY, and Bobby Burgess of Barbourville, KY.
His brothers-in-law, Doug Johnson of Barbourville, KY, Ray Johnson and wife, Debbie of Barbourville, KY, and Oscar Shelton of New Carlisle, Ohio.
His sisters-in-law, Jean Messer Begley of Corbin, KY, Mary Hammons and husband, Marvin of Barbourville, KY, Phyllis Smith and husband, Otis of Barbourville, KY, Shirley Bargo of Gray, KY, and Betty Centers and husband, Jack of Barbourville, KY, and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

This has been a very difficult time for our family. We apologize if we have failed to express our thanks to anyone individually. So many people have played an important role in supporting Paul and our family. We will never forget your kindness, generosity, support and prayers. You have all been a blessing to us.
Funeral Services for Paul Begley will be 6:30 P.M. Friday, August 14, 2015 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Elliott officiating.
A Masonic Service by Cumberland Valley Masonic Lodge # 751 F. & A. M. will be prior to the main service.
Military Honors will be conducted by the DAV Chapter 158 of Keavy, KY after the main service.
The Begley family will receive friends after 4:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in his honor be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
