Raymond Curtis Smith age 51, of Flat Lick, was born on June 23, 1962 in Pineville, Kentucky. He was a son of Sandra Powell Smith and the late Raymond Smith. Raymond died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Flat Lick. He was a member of the Parkway Church of God and was a retired Lieutenant Colonel of the 100th Division of the United States Army Reserve. Along with his father, Raymond, he was preceded in death by; his maternal grandparents, Clandis and Thelma Powell; his paternal grandparents; Henry Matt and Lena Smith and a nephew, Clandis Ray Smith.
Raymond Curtis is survived by his sons; Raymond Curtis Smith II and John H. Tyler Smith both of Corbin; his dear mother; Sandra Smith of Flat Lick; his brothers; Matt Smith of Flat Lick; Clandis Smith and wife, Jo Sallie of Flat Lick; former wife, Charlotte Smith McCoy of Corbin; his nieces and nephews; Amber, Ashton and Lauren and great niece, Kylee.
Funeral Services for Raymond Curtis Smith will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, August 16, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Larry Sowders and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick, with Michael Bingham, Daniel Hibbard, Travis Hubbard, Chase Hubbard, Zachary Bentley, David Gambrel and Jamie Sowders serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: fellow officers of the 100th Division of the United States Army Reserve and all former employees of the Knox County Fiscal Court. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Thursday, 6:00 to 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am Friday until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
