Robert "Earl" Harris, age 82, of Independence, KY passed away on September 30, 2014. He was retired from CSX Railroad where he worked as a Switchman. Earl served our country bravely as a member of the United States Air force. He attended Hilltop Church of Christ in Taylor Mill, KY, he was also a Mason of Scottish Rite, York Rite 32nd degree. He loved to read and go out to dinner as well as hunt and fish. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. Earl was preceded in death by his brothers, Herbert and Gene Harris; sister, June Lawson; daughter, Debra Lehman. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jonell Harris of Independence, KY; son, Michael Harris of Walton, KY; Sisters, Ruth Nicholson of London, KY and Joan Gray of Barborville, KY; brother, James Harris of Corbin, KY; grandchildren, Angie Schmitt, Eric Harris and Brad Harris; 4 great-grandchildren.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 3, 2014 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home in Independence, KY. Interment will take place the following day at Worley Cemetery in Corbin, KY with a graveside service.
