Obituary

Ruby Mills Smith, age 69, of Hammons Fork, died Thursday, November 2, 2017 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Dallas and Ethel Riley Mills born to them on May 7, 1948 at Woollum.

Ruby worked for Warner's for over 30 years as a Steamstress; and was a Member of the Rock Springs Missionary Baptist Church.

On August 31, 1968, she united in marriage to Rev. Elbert Smith Sr. and to this union a son E.J. was born.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her four sisters: Thelma McVey, Rachel Ann Mills, Wittie Trent and Wilma Jean Mills; a brother: Ray Mills; and by her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Bill and Lola Jordan Smith.

She is survived by her loving husband of over 49 years: Rev. Elbert Smith Sr. of Hammons Fork.
Her son: E. J. Smith and wife, Amanda of Hammons Fork.
Her grandson: Elbert Jeffrey Smith of Hammons Fork.
Her brother: Dallas Mills Jr. and wife Mary of Flat Lick.
Her sister: Linda Carol Major and husband, Frank of Corbin.
Her sister-in-law: Juanita Mills of Michigan; and two brothers-in-law: John McVey Jr. of Woollum; and Ray Trent of Greenroad.
Her uncle: Roy Mills of Winchester; and a host of nieces and nephews; and several special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and other relatives and dear friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Ruby Mills Smith will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 5, 2017 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. Ricky Broughton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Nan-Riley Cemetery at Woollum.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be Nephews: Dennis McVey, Calvin McVey, Steve Jones, Mike Trent, Scotty Trent, Brian Kilgore, Dillon Major and Jeremy King.

Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be additional Nephews: Edward Riley, Rodney Riley, Timothy Smith and Dexter Smith Jr.

The Smith family will receive friends after 6:30 P.M. on Friday at the Hopper Funeral Home, and from 9:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Saturday, and on Sunday after 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour of 2:00 P.M.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
