Russell I. Messer age 56, of Lexington, and formerly of Knox County,
died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Jewish Hospital in Shelbyville,
Kentucky. He was a son of Janice Disney Sevier and Russell H. Sevier, born on June 12, 1959 at Pineville, Kentucky.
Russell was a electrician for M. D. Electric Company, a very good musician playing the drums in many local bands and jamming with his friends, and he loved to ride his Motorcycle.
On October 16, 1984, he united in marriage to Paula S. King, and to this union a son: Joshua Isaac, and a daughter: Olivia Grace were born.
Russell was preceded in death by his grandparents: Reid Isaac Disney and Gladys McWilliams Disney.
He is survived by his loving family: His wife: Paula King Messer of Lexington.
His son: Joshua Isaac Messer and wife, Kelly of Lexington.
His daughter: Olivia Grace Messer of Lexington.
His mother and father: Janice Disney Sevier and Russell H. Sevier of Cannon.
His special niece: Amanda Hope Smith, and a special nephew: William Mathew Smith who loved him as a dad.
His two dogs whom he loved: Ringo and Starr.
His two brothers: Kenneth R. Messer and wife, April of London; and Darrin W. Sevier of Frankfort, Kentucky.
His niece: Julie Burnette; and nephews: Jonathon Messer, Ryan Dunn and Tyler Dunn; and many more loving nieces and nephews.
His musician family: Chris Palmer, Andy Palmer, Carl Eversole, Dave Pike, Artis Greene, Charlie Deppemier, Travis Smith, Eddie Broughton, and a host of other musician friends; and many other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Russell I. Messer will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 4:00 P.M. with Rev. Fred Disney officiating.
Burial will follow in the McWilliams Cemetery on Long Branch.
Those Serving as Pallbearers will be: Carl Eversole, Jonathon Messer, Terry King, Mark King, Charles King, Chris Palmer, Andy Palmer and John Dyer.
The Messer family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 after 6:00 P.M., and on Thursday, July 2, 2015 after 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.
Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
