Obituary

Ruth Edna Gregory Wood age 69, of the Jarvis Community of Barbouville, died Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in the Oak Tree Continued Care Hospital in Corbin.
She was a daughter of the late Henry and Peartie Smith Gregory, born to them on October 18, 1944 at Woollum, Kentucky.

Ruth was a Christian who believed in the Baptist faith. She was a well known Knox County Homemaker who retired from the Knox County Hospital. She enjoyed working in her flowers and playing bingo. Her most favorite pastime was watching Jeff Gordon and Nascar, and cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats.

On September 30, 1964, she united in marriage to Robert L. Wood and to this union they were blessed with four children.

Ruth was preceded in death by her son: Ricky Wood; her parents: Henry and Peartie Smith Gregory; her three brothers: Earl Gregory, Ellis Gregory and J. B. Gregory; her two sisters: Mary Gregory and Beatrice Mills; as well as her two faithful companions: Little Bit and Scottie.

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of nearly fifty years: Bob.
Her daughter: Dina Redwine and husband, Wayne of Cannon.
Her sons: Robert Wood and wife, Marsha of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Steve Wood and wife, Rita of Girdler.
Her grandchildren: Tabitha Frazier and husband, Tommy; Josh King and wife, Karen; Bradley Wood; Kayla Wood; and Matthew Wood.
Her great grandchildren: Gavin and Gabby Frazier.
Her three sisters: Abby Lloyd, Sue Jones and Martha Swafford.
Her two brothers: Glen Gregory and Henry Gregory; and her special sidekick her Chihauhau Buddy, as well as a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Ruth Edna Gregory Wood will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2014 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Barnard and Rev. Tommy Frazier officiating.
Burial will follow in the Farmer-Wood Cemetery at the Gilbert Cemetery Road in Girdler.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Josh King, Bradley Wood, Tommy Frazier, Wayne Redwine, Danney Shelton and Roger Stewart.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be: The Oak Tree Continuing Care Transcare Employees.

The Wood family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Friday, and after 9:00 A.M. on Saturday until the funeral hour.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
