Obituary

Sarah Ann Cobb Fisher, age 92, of Corbin, Kentucky  passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Baptist Regional Health Center in Corbin.  She was a daughter of the late Garrett and Sudie Hubbard Cobb, born to them on March 12, 1925, in the Sprule community of Knox County, Kentucky.

Mrs. Fisher retired from The Warner Company in Barbourville, where she worked for many years, making many friends along the way. She was a  member of the Heidrick Holiness Church in Heidrick where she lived most of her life.

On January 5, 1946, Sarah united in marriage with Russell Fisher, and to this union two sons and a daughter were born: Arthur, Dewayne, and Linda.

Along with her parents, Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Russell, on November 21, 1979. She was preceded in death by six sisters: Evelyn, Ruby, Mary Jean, and Delia Cobb; Beulah Berry and Elizabeth Karim; and four brothers: Lloyd, Elbert, John and Pearl Cobb.

She is survived by many friends and her loving family, including her children and their spouses: Arthur Fisher (fiancee' Vera Spurlock) and Linda Hinkle (Landon), all of Corbin; and Dewayne Fisher (Cheryl) of Barbourville.

She is survived by seven grandchildren and spouses: Steven Scott Fisher of Lexington; Christopher Fisher of Cannon; Timothy Fisher (Marty) of Bartolo, Florida; Rebecca Hinkle Cope (David) of Sugarcreek Township, Ohio; Tessinee Fisher Bereczky of Lexington; Kelly Hinkle Roberts (Geoff) of Lexington, and Lisa Fisher Lang of Wixom, Michigan.

Sarah was blessed with many grandchildren. She leaves behind her eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by brother Garrett Cobb of Corbin; and sister June Jones of Tipp City, Ohio. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Sarah will take place at 2:00 P.M. Friday, February 9, in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Herby Hoskins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fisher Cemetery at Heidrick.

Mrs. Fisher's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the residents and staff of the Friendship House, to include special friend and neighbor Gustie Hinkle.

The family offers sincere thanks to the physicians and staff at Baptist Corbin and Christian Care Communities who cared for Sarah over the last four months.

Sarah's family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, and after 9:00 A.M. on Friday and until the funeral hour.
