Sterling Ray Baker, age 58, of Flat Lick, died Friday, May 10, 2019 at his home. He was the husband of Carolyn Reynolds Baker. He was born on June 17, 1960 to the late Gorman L. Baker and Gladys Jo Marlow Baker Gambrel who survives. He was a member of Scalf Chapel Baptist Church and a retired concrete construction worker. In his spare time he loved gardening, Fishing and reading.
Besides his father he was preceded in death by a son: Kenneth Ray Saylor and step-father Robie Gambrel.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Reynolds Baker, his mother: Gladys Jo Marlow Baker Gambrel of Flat Lick, his son: James Baker and wife Susan of Corbin, his daughters: Gladys Marion and Charlie Marion of Cannon, Rose Mary Broughton and husband Randal, Jr. of Corbin and Elizabeth Saylor and Mike Gibson of London, his brothers: Anthony Baker of Flat Lick and Hoyt Dewitt Gambrel and Rebecca of Flat Lick, his grandchildren: Tiffany Nehemiah D., Victoria and Aaron Eversole, Cody Broughton, Brandy and Brian Leif, Kenneth Alex Saylor, Linus Ray Marion, Colby Brian Keith Marion and Christopher Austin Andrew Marion and D. J. Smallwood and wife Brittany. his great grandchildren: Lyra Broughton, Jolene Rose Gambrel , Bentley Cruse G. Gambrel and Skylar S. and his Niece: Katie Paige Gambrel. Plus a host of other friends and relatives to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Sterling Ray Baker will be 2:00 P.M. Monday May 13, 2019 at the Concord Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Dunn and Rev. Orangie Wheat officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Gray Cemetery at Flat Lick with Anthony Baker, Randy Broughton, Colby Marion, Brian Leif, Charlie Marion, Christopher Marion and Aaron Eversole serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday after 7:00 P.M. at Concord Baptist Church until the funeral hour.
