Obituary

T. J. Smith, age 84, of Boone Heights, departed this life on Friday, July 26, 2013 in the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was a son of the late Calvin Smith and Ethel (Mills) Smith Lewis, born to them on July 27, 1928 at Salt Gum, Kentucky.
He believed in the Baptist faith and enjoyed working on anything with an engine, cars, lawn mowers it didn't matter, raising a garden and talking and debating World Events.
On December 21, 1954, he united in marriage to Brenda Roark, and to this union four sons: Harold, Thomas J. Jr., Marty and Tony were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Calvin and Ethel Smith; his wife, Brenda Roark Smith on February 12, 2005; his four brothers: Woodson Mills, Oakley Smith, Albert Smith and Gilbert Smith; and by his three sisters: Elsie Saylor, Thelma Kelly and Alene Smith.

He is survived by his four sons: Harold Smith and wife, Peggy of Barbourville; Thomas J. Smith, Jr. and Fiance', Vinnie of Boone Heights; Marty (Hossie) Smith and wife, Noria of Dewitt; and Tony Smith and wife, Kim of London, Kentucky.
His three grandchildren: Jennifer Hoover of Anderson, Indiana; Sonny Smith of Mayport Naval Station, Florida; and Brandon (Zeke) Smith of Corbin.
His great granddaughter: Oliva Ann Hoover of Anderson, Indiana.
His two sisters: Tressie Jane Smith of Barbourville; and Lillie McCay of Sharonville, Ohio.
His four sisters-in-law: Launa Charlton, Juanita Gray and Carrie Lowe all of Boone Heights; and Donna McVey of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for T. J. Smith will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, July 29, 2013 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denvil Taylor, Jr. and Rev. Jay Barnett officiating.
Burial will follow in the Barbourville Cemetery.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Ron Dale, Larry Wagner, Ralph Smith, Bruce Mills, Sonny Smith and Brandon Smith.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Nasby Mills, Kenneth Bright and Dr. Woolum.

The Smith family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home after 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, and on Monday after 9:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.
