Vernie Broughton Egner age 62, of Woodbine, was born on December 7, 1950 in Knox County, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Claude Broughton and Nola Swafford Broughton. Vernie died Saturday, November 2, 2013 in the Baptist Health Hospital at Corbin. She was a member of the Gordon Hill Deliverance Church in Corbin. She was preceded in death by; a sister, Vada Evelyn Broughton; and two brothers; Ova Lee Broughton and Ray Broughton.

Vernie is survived by her son; Tommy Brown and wife, Tasha of Woodbine; her dear grandchildren; Taylor, Tori and Tiara; her twin brother; Ernie Broughton and wife, Mary Lee of Flat Lick; her former husband, Douglas Brown of Bimble; her sisters-in-law; Clara Broughton of Blue Ash, Ohio and Joanne Smith of London, Kentucky; and many beloved nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services for Vernie Broughton Egner will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Charles Carnes and Rev. Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Tommy Broughton Cemetery at Roadfork, with nephews and family members serving as pallbearers. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Tuesday after 6:00 pm and Wednesday after 10:00 am until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of all arrangements.
