Mr. Vernon Baker, age 63, of Four Mile, Kentucky died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the ARH Hospital in Barbourville, Kentucky. Mr. Baker was born to Ida Cooper Baker and Charlie Baker in Macroe Branch, Scalf, Kentucky on September 13, 1955. On October 26, 1977 Mr. Baker was united in marriage to Liza Sizemore and to this union two sons were born.
Mr. Baker was a retired miner and logger and a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church. Mr. Baker served the United States of America as a Senior Airman in the Airforce. He loved being a "Papaw" and he loved his dogs.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his father: Mr. Charlie Baker; by his first wife, Liza Sizemore; and by his brother, Mr. David Baker.
Vernon Baker is survived by his mother: Mrs. Ida Baker; his two sons: Mr. Eric Baker (Amy) of Williamsburg, Virginia and Mr. Derrick Baker of Four Mile, Kentucky; Eight grandchildren: Payton Perkins, Abi Baker, Caden Baker, Aidan Baker, and Hannah Baker; two brothers: Mr. Bill Baker of Barbourville, Kentucky and Mr. Donnie Baker of Flat Lick, Kentucky; and two sisters: Ms. Janice Sue Partin of Scalf, Kentucky and Mrs. Joyce Warfield (Eddie) of Gray.
Mr. Baker is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Jennifer (Jeff) Yates and Kelli (Mark) Barnes all of Corbin, Kentucky, Cody Baker, Tracey Daniels, Sherry Baker all of Barbourville, Kentucky; James David Baker of Walker, Kentucky. Shane (Brianna) Baker of Gray, Kentucky; Dana (Jeff) Smith of Cannon, Kentucky, and Crystal (Mike) Yother of Rockhold, Kentucky. Great nieces and nephews; Jessica (James) Lundy, Jeffrey Trystan Yates, Jarod Tyler Partin, Jacob Baker, Austin Smith, Macy Yother, Tatum Yother, Lydia Barnes, Jason Baker, Addison Baker, Waylon David Baker, James Crayon Baker; Great Great Niece, Jocelyn Mae Lundy.
Funeral Services for Mr. Baker will be held Saturday, August 24, at 1:00 PM at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Kennon Roark will be officiating. The Pallbearers are Jared Partin, Shane Baker, Jeff Yates, Jacob Baker, Tristen Yates, Eddie Warfield, Mike Yother, and Mark Barnes.
Visitation for Mr. Baker will be Friday, August 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and on Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00 PM. Interment for Mr. Baker will be at the Macroe Branch Cemetery in Scalf, Kentucky immediately following the service.
