Obituary

Virgil Hale, age 86, of Flat Lick, died Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Hospital. He was a son of the late Hugh Bob and Amanda Hammons Hale, born to them on January 27, 1932 at Flat Lick, Kentucky.

Virgil was a well known Construction Worker, Coal Truck Driver and a Knox County Farmer, a member of the Old Flat Lick Baptist Church, and was a member of the Barbourville  Governor's Baseball team.

On September 2, 1950, he united in marriage to Janice Christine Mullins and to this union three children: Sharon Lee, Danny and Barry were born.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Janice Christine Mullins Hale,  his daughter Sharon Lee Hale Daniels, his granddaughter Jamie Hale, and by his brother-in-law Jim Gordon.

Virgil is survived by his loving family:  his sons: Barry Hale of Barbourville and Danny Hale and wife Donna of Middlesboro.  His son-in-law: Lyle Daniels of Bimble.  His sister Rosa Lee Hale Gordon of Goodlettsville, Tennessee. His grandchildren: David and Amy Daniels, Mark Daniels, Jodie (Rodney) Adkins, Shanna "Shane" Hale, Jana and Todd Fisk, Jessica Hoskins and Cassie Hale.  His great grandchildren: Alex, Kelsey, Marlee, Bradley, Braden, Matthew and Logan Daniels, Chase Adkins, Abby and Noah Fisk, and Jaxson Hoskins.  His three great great grandchildren: Harper, Shelby and Malachi; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for Virgil Hale will be 2:00 pm Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Sowders and Rev. David Daniels officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick.

Those serving as Pallbearers will be David Daniels, Mark Daniels, Rodney Adkins, Noah Fisk, Bradley Daniels, Brayden Daniels and Seth Campbell.

The Hale family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home from 6:00 until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and on Thursday until the funeral hour.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
