Wayne Broughton, 64 of Flat Lick, died Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital, London. He was born April, 27, 1952 to the late Leeman, and Beatrice Mills Broughton. He was a farmer, had worked for Plastics Universal for 10 years, and operated heavy equipment. Wayne attended Mills Creek Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Michael Everett Broughton, his father-in-law, Chester Mills, his brother-in-laws, Kenneth Hinkle and Everett Mills, and his nephews, Jason Hinkle and Jason Mills.
Surviving is his wife, Ruby Mills Broughton, a son, Lucas Wayne (Courtney) Broughton, of Flat Lick, a daughter, Holly Beth (Andrew) Smith of Corbin, and two sisters, Jo Ann Hinkle of Cincinnati, OH, and Judy (Tim) Cobb of Gray, a niece, Ashlyn Paige Cobb of Gray his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Mills, a brother-in-law, Clifford Mills, both of Scalf, two sister-in-laws, Kathy (David) Bruner of Barbourville, and Mae (Terry) Broughton of Flat Lick, and several other aunts, uncles , nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Hopper Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Carnes, and Rev. Kennon Roark officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery at Hammond, with Brutus Metcalf, Leon Hinkle, Don Mills, Ernie Broughton, Arlie Smith, Tommy Collins, David Bruner, and Terry Broughton serving as pallbearers, and the Mills Creek Missionary Baptist Church members as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 9 pm, and after 10 am Saturday until the funeral.
The Broughton Family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Mills Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Building Fund, in care of , S.T. Mills, 166 Houston Broughton Road, Flat Lick, KY 40935.
