Wendell Powell age 75, of Artemus, was born on March 5, 1940 in
Barbourville. He was a son of the late James Powell and Nellie Smith
Powell. Wendell died Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Baptist Health in
Corbin. He was a member of the Artemus Christian Church. Wendell was
a retired employee of General Motors and was a United States Army
Veteran. On March 2, 1991, he united in marriage to Bobbie Walters
Mitchum.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbie of Artemus; his children; Anthony
Powell and wife, Sue of Greenville, Michigan; Angela Botma and husband, Jay of Wayland, Michigan; Pamela Powell of Sparta, Michigan; and Mary Miller and husband, Darrel of Rockford, Michigan; his sister;
Joann Alford of Barbouriville; brothers; Jerry Powell of Lexington,
Kentucky; David Powell of Barbourville, Kentucky; Gorman Powell of Warren, Michigan and James Powell of Barbourville, Kentucky; he also
leaves ten grandchildren, and the loving children he and Bobbie
took care of for twenty four years.

Funeral Services for Wendell Powell will be conducted in the Hopper
Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Bro.
Doug Martin and Bro. Jake Copley officiating. Burial will follow in
the Barbourville Cemetery, with Chris Powell, Doug Taylor, Lucius
Willson, Brian Nelson, Jeremy Napier and Troy Bierman serving as
pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the children he and Bobbie
took care of for twenty four years. Friends will be received at the Hopper Funeral Home Wednesday after 6:00 pm and Thursday after 10:00 am until the funeral
hour at 2:00pm. Hopper Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
