Obituary

William Stevie Brooks, age 84, of Bryants Store, died Friday, April 11, 2014 in the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Barbourville.
He was a son of the late Albert B.  and Bessie Ellen Hembree Brooks, born to them on March 27, 1930 at Ingram in Bell County.

He served his country in the United States Air Force as a Technical Sergeant and retired from the service on December 1, 1973, and was a proud veteran of the Korean War;  and was a Member and a Deacon at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Whitley County.

On September 26, 1955, he united in marriage to Geraldine Logan, and to this union a daughter: Sandra, and a son: Roger were born.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers: Leamon Brooks and Charles Brooks.

He is survived by his loving family: His wife of over 58 years: Geraldine  Logan Brooks of Bryants Store.
His daughter: Sandra Gregory and husband, Edward of Barbourville.
His son: Roger Brooks and wife, Renee of Bryants Store.
His grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Randy Payne, Stephanie Youngs and husband, Andy, Daniel Payne, step-grandson: Aaron Gregory and wife, Jennifer, step-grandson: Shannon Gregory and wife, Sarah, Isaac Brooks, and Emily Brooks.
His two great granddaughters: Kaylee Gregory and Ella Gregory.
His sister: Dorothy Faulkner and husband, Vernon of Williamsburg; and a host of nieces and nephews, and other relatives, and dear friends to mourn his passing.

Funeral Services for William Stevie Brooks will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2014 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Gray and Rev. Keith Bays officiating.
Burial will follow in the  Barbourville Cemetery with a Honor Guard from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to conduct military honors.
Those serving as Pallbearers will be: Daniel Payne, Andy Youngs, Isaac Brooks, Aaron Gregory, Shannon Gregory and Jerry Hembree.
Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff and Employees of the Barbourville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

The William Stevie Brooks family will receive friends at the Hopper Funeral Home on Sunday after 6:00 P.M., and on Monday after 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour.

In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to your local Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), or the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road #300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256 in loving memory of US Air Force Technical Sergeant Retired William Stevie Brooks.

Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
